Central Virginia Family Physicians (CVFP) was formed in 1993 by a group of family practice physicians with the foresight to realize that the practice of medicine was undergoing some dramatic changes and the private practice physicians would need to make changes, too, in order to be able to continue to deliver quality care to their patients. Increasing requirements for insurance and Medicare reimbursements, changing regulations, and changes in technology were posing significant challenges to small medical practices.
The physicians from nine private family practices joined together to form CVFP with the idea that they could centralize the business of running a medical practice, while continuing to care for their patients in their existing community practices. This provided a means for the practices to grow and continue to modernize as they were able to benefit from the economies of scale as a result of the shared administrative responsibilities.
CVFP is committed to providing traditional family medicine while incorporating modern technology and innovations in practice management. Our professional management team oversees the administration of our practices and facilities, and CVFP’s Technology Department provides ongoing IT support.
