The Allergy and Immunization Clinic at the LUSHC is available to administer allergy injections and to store antigens for students. There is no allergy testing done at LUSHC. Allergy injections are administered on a walk-in basis and is included in the Student Health Fee. However, if you are a new student, an appointment should be made for your first injection. Students must bring their own allergy medicine (clearly labeled) with complete instructions. Our refrigerator is available to store students’ antigens, however students are responsible for ordering, receiving, and knowing the expiration date of their allergens. Allergens will not be used if expired.
A 20-30 minute waiting period after administering injections is required due to the possibility of severe reactions, including death. Strenuous physical exercise should be avoided one hour before, and three to four hours after, injections to reduce the risk of reactions.
The only immunization covered under the Student Health Fee is the influenza vaccine. All other immunizations, including travel immunizations, are excluded.
*In the case of an emergency on campus, contact LUPD at ext. 3911 or (434) 592-3911. In the case of off-campus emergencies, dial 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
